Although I’m not a fan of summer squash because of its bland taste, it’s one of the vegetables that I use to make a variety of summer recipes. The first time I tried cooking with summer squash was when I was trying to make a delicious muffin. I read in the recipe that summer squash is preferable because it’s more flavorful, but the only one I had at home was the pea-sized variety. The pea-sized variety worked fine, but the taste wasn’t as good as I had hoped. So, I decided to experiment with the larger summer squash that I had in the fridge. Cooking using seasonal foods is one of the greatest frugal living ideas I can offer you. It is not only generally less expensive, but it is also more tasty.

If you have a favorite recipe, double it and freeze half of it; it’s always nice to have something on hand for those days when you don’t have time to cook or bake!

If you have too much excess squash and don’t have time to eat or use them all before they go bad, chop them up into tiny pieces and freeze them. Although they are not as good as fresh squash, they will work well in many of these dishes. There’s no need to throw food away!
